Thailand Privilege Gold Membership

The Highly Accessible Entry-Level Tier

The Thailand Privilege Gold Membership is the entry-level tier of the Thailand Privilege Card program, offering the most affordable path to Thailand Elite Visa benefits. Although it includes fewer perks than higher tiers, it provides an excellent starting point for those seeking a flexible, short-term option.

Let’s take a closer look at the Gold membership, the benefits it gives you, and how to apply.

What is the Thailand Privilege Gold Membership?

The Thailand Privilege program enables foreigners to stay in Thailand for extended periods with few requirements. It provides a multiple-entry Thai Elite Visa and is valid for 5 to 20+ years as well as a long list of additional perks.

How long your Thailand Privilege visa is good for and what benefits are available to you depends on your level of membership, of which there are four:

How Does Gold Membership Differ from the Other Tiers?

There are several key differences between Gold membership and the Platinum, Diamond, and Reserve tiers.

Price

The first major distinction between Thailand Privilege Gold Membership and the other tiers is price. Gold membership costs a one-time, non-refundable 900,000 THB fee (approximately $25,500 USD). While this is considerably more expensive than its predecessor, the Thailand Elite Visa, it comes with many more perks and benefits that the older visa type does not provide.

Length of Stay

With the Gold membership, you are provided with a 5-year visa for Thailand. This is the shortest length of validity of the Thailand Privilege membership tiers. Multiple entries are also allowed, meaning you can come and go as you please with no need for “visa runs” to leave and enter the country every 90 days. However, you will need to leave the country once a year as this is still technically a tourist visa, but you can simply leave for a day and return immediately once a year if you are approaching 365 days in the country.

Transfers and Joint Applications

Like the Platinum and Diamond tiers, Gold membership cannot be transferred to someone else in the way that a Thailand Privilege Reserve Membership can. However, Gold differs from the higher tiers further by having no option for joint membership with family members. With the other tiers, you can add family members’ applications to yours for a reduced rate and get the Thai Elite Visas at the same time. With Gold membership, though, each person must pay the full 900,000 THB and go through their own application process.

Points Awarded

The Thailand Privilege card program includes a system that awards points on an annual basis which can then be redeemed for rewards such as luxury transfers from airports or free movie tickets. The Thailand Privilege Points System grants you an amount of points per year based on your membership level.

If you possess Gold membership, you get 20 points per year that you can spend however you wish. Redemptions typically cost 1, 2, or 3 points, and point cost is the same across all tiers of membership. However, at higher tiers, some rewards are complimentary or come with extra perks such as priority booking. Points refresh at the beginning of every calendar year, and unspent points DO NOT roll over.

What Are the Perks and Benefits of a Thailand Gold Elite Visa?

Aside from the key differences described above, the benefits available to Gold membership holders are largely the same as those available to the higher tiers. Refer to this chart to see what each Thailand Privilege membership package includes.

Is Gold Membership Right for Me?

The Thailand Privilege Gold Membership is a good option for you, if want to explore the Kingdom without too long of a commitment, or if you know your time here will be relatively brief. It has the lowest price and shortest term of stay, which is important because the Thailand Privilege application fee is non-refundable and the membership is not transferable. So, if you change your mind or don’t use the membership as much as you thought, you are only losing out on a small amount compared to the higher tiers of membership.

Gold membership is also a good fit if you are applying individually and do not plan to bring any family to Thailand.

There is no option for joint applications as previously mentioned, and the low number of rewards points granted per year could be sufficient for a single person, but not perhaps for a group doing a lot of activities together.

The good news is that if you begin your membership to Thailand Privilege at the Gold tier but decide you want more, you can easily upgrade to a higher tier. Note that you will still need an invitation to upgrade to Reserve Membership, but Platinum and Diamond are available by simply paying the difference in application fees as well as a fixed upgrade fee.

How Do I Complete a Thailand Privilege Gold Application?

01

Fill out the application form

You can do this by yourself, but to streamline the processes, it’s recommended to apply through an authorized General Sales and Services Agent, as their services are free.

02

Pay the Application Fee and Send in the Application

Along with the required documents, you will need to send a payment of 50,000 THB as an application fee. However, this amount is deducted from your membership fee if you are approved, which makes it more of a deposit than a fee. If your background check does not pass, you will be refunded this money, but if you withdraw your application or fail to pay the full membership fee after being approved, this money is forfeited.

03

Pass the Screening Process

After they receive your application packet, the Thailand Privilege authority will perform a background check on you to determine your eligibility, which will typically take 4-6 weeks to complete.

04

Receive Approval and Pay the Membership Fee

You will be informed of your successful application with an approval letter. Once approved, you must then make the required payment in full, which at this point will be 850,000 THB. You can pay via credit card, bank transfer, cash, Alipay, or cryptocurrency.

05

Affix Visa to Passport

Once the payment is cleared, you’ll be approved to affix the new visa to your passport. This can be done in your home country’s Thai embassy or in Thailand at immigration services. Your visa agent can help you coordinate this.
